Students follow the Edexcel GCSE Art and Design (Photography pathway) syllabus. Link to the specification website http://qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/edexcel-gcses/art-and-design-2009.html Students study photographic techniques and learn about the creative aspects of the medium. They draw, make notes and keep a sketchbook of ideas to prepare each photo shoot. Students become confident in making decisions and speaking about their work and learn key skills that will support them in their personal thematic projects undertaken in Year 11. They will be expected to have a smartphone and access to a range of photographic apps.

Exhibitions in the Brentwood Road Gallery form an important part of the GCSE course. |

Students follow the Edexcel Art and Design syllabus. Photography pathway Specification number: 9PY0 Link to the specification website http://qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/edexcel-a-levels/art-and-design-2015.html Students will study a range of photographic processes and concepts and explore the medium in its widest possible sense including experimental approaches to analogue film and print, Photoshop, iMovie and moving image, mobile phone photography as well as analysing the work of photographers and artists spanning two centuries. It is a practical, hands on and experimental course where students are required to produce a lot of photographic material and learn how to consider technical skills and conceptual ideas through discussions, critiques and assessment. The course is thematic and the ideas studied will be personal to the students resulting in a course that is designed to accommodate individual’s ideas and ways of working.

We encourage all art students to make regular gallery visits. We run an annual visit to a European city We work closely with the Brentwood Road Gallery and offer our Art student artist led workshops All students applying to university to study Art/Photography will be offered one to one tutorials to help in the preparation of their portfolio. |
