Ms Louise Boxer – Chair

Pronouns: she / her / hers / herself

Louise has been a local governor of Frances Bardsley Academy since July 2018.

Louise holds a Batchelor of Arts in Informal and Community Education from Canterbury Christchurch University and has twenty six years’ experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.  Louise has a passion for inclusion in education and communities and is a lifelong campaigner for equality of opportunity.  Louise has worked for the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Waltham Forest and Essex County Council in residential settings and schools, alternative education and community inclusion projects, the children’s charities Action for Children and Voice for the Child in Care and has been an independent supervisor for degree students at the YMCA George Williams College.

For the last eleven years Louise has worked for The London Borough of Havering as a mentoring and befriending co-ordinator for children and young people with disabilities and children looked after in a project that she was commissioned to set up on behalf of the local authority, a vulnerable children’s co-ordinator for education working with schools and alternative provisions to maximise the engagement in education of the borough’s most vulnerable children and young people and those at risk of exclusion. Louise is now employed as a senior case officer in Havering’s Children and Adults with Disabilities Assessment and Placement Team who are responsible for the assessment and education placements of children and young people with SEND and complex needs.

Reverend Father Roderick S P Hingley

Father Hingley has been a priest in The Church of England for 45 years.  A graduate of St Chad’s College in the University of Durham he completed his Theological Training at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. Having moved around the country experiencing industrial, rural and urban ministry, Father Hingley has been the Vicar of St Alban, Protomartyr, Romford for 30 years. He is the longest serving Incumbent in the Deanery of Havering.

Father Hingley has been a Governor at Frances Bardsley since 1996 and Chairman of Governors from 2008-2018.  In 2013 the Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls joined The Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Education Affiliated Schools Scheme.  He has been a Governor of Squirrels Heath Junior School since 2004 and is currently Vice Chair of Governors. Until its closure in 2009 Father Hingley was a Governor of The Manor Primary School for 13 years, 10 of which he was Chairman of Governors.

Engaged in the life of the local community and beyond, Father Hingley has served as Chaplain to and an Executive Committee member of The Havering Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1996.  He has served as Chaplain to The Mayor of Havering 2012-13 and 2016 – 17.

Mrs Emma Anderton

Emma Anderton has worked in education since the early 1990s, teaching in primary schools in ex-mining communities in Nottinghamshire and in Nottingham City.  Following that Emma worked as Cathedral Education officer in Nottinghamshire; planning, resourcing and delivering visits for educational establishments. The role also involved managing and training a team of over 100 volunteers.

Emma is currently employed by Chelmsford Diocese as Children, Families and youth Missioner, part of the team offering support and training to churches. As part of this role, Emma sits on Barking and Dagenham SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education). Emma has a Master’s degree in children’s mission focusing on children’s spirituality and faith in the family.

Ms Nichola West

Nichola has a daughter who attends FBA and is a Primary Headteacher in an all-through school (4 to 18 year olds) in Redbridge. She holds a Batchelor of Science in Primary Education from Greenwich University and a NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship). With over twenty years’ experience in teaching and over 14 years in schools’ senior leadership teams, Nichola is driven to provide the utmost optimal educational provision for all young people, regardless of students’ backgrounds, beliefs or starting points. She has also supported schools across London as a Regional Lead Teacher, focusing on developing teachers and leaders.

Mrs Michelle Forde

Michelle joins the FBA Local Governance Committee with skills gained from nursing, project management, inspecting provider services for the Care quality commission, being a school governor and running her own business. Michelle was a nursing sister and manager for over 25 years and has had the opportunity of nursing abroad during this time.

Michelle has had experience of governance having previously been a school governor and chair of governors at an academy run primary school, and sixth form college. She has sat on audit, safeguarding and SEND committees. Michelle has helped both schools and healthcare providers who have been in special measures, raising standards to improve their ratings.

Michelle is a foster carer for young people between the ages of 15-18, and volunteers with school children in various capacities.

Michelle hopes being a governor at FBA will further develop her governing ability and skills whilst working with the school to support great education in the local community.

Dr Aliar Hossain

Dr Hossain is a Head of Department at Northumbria University London Campus. Having completed his PhD in Sustainable Development Strategy.

Prior to this Aliar volunteered as a governor linked with Leadership & Strategy in Ilford between 2018 and 2021

Aliar has over 18 years of teaching, university partnership management, programme validation, and academic leadership experiences at various levels of private & public sector higher education in the UK. He has consulted and managed numerous academic partnership projects, which are validated by QAA (Quality Assurance Agency), Ofsted, BAC and Pearson / Edexcel. He is also a Fellow Member of HEA (FHEA).

Aliar is the Chair of Employer Engagement Advisory Board for all Business & Law programmes at the London campus, has lead the ‘Women in Tech Weekend Boot Camp’ project that works with Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets and has spoken at conferences.

Ms Asma Kapadia

Asma is a parent of a student at FBA and works for n.family club as an educator preparing children for school.  She is also their wellbeing and happiness specialist for staff.

Asma is a qualified forest school leader and has previously been a governor at a primary school in Hackney and had an active role with the Parent Staff Association. Asma has also worked as a Brand Ambassador, a marketing agent, an administrator and also runs a small business.

Mr David Turrell, Executive Headteacher

David is the Executive Headteacher at FBA and at The Bridge – the two secondary schools in the Trust. David has been teaching Geography since 2000 at Clacton County High School and then Chelmsford County High school as Head of Department.  In 2008 he became Head of Humanities at Chelmsford County High School before joining Frances Bardsley in September 2012. David has been Assistant Headteacher, Vice Principal, and Head of School before taking on the headship in partnership with Emilie Darabasz in 2021.

Ms Emilie Darabasz, Headteacher

Following completion of French as a foreign language master and PGCE at Canterbury Christ Church University, Emilie started her career in a school in Essex where she gained 10 years’ experience and during which time was promoted to various positions including a Head of Year, a Pastoral Lead and Head of 6th form.

Emilie joined FBA in September 2015 as an Assistant Head overseeing the school’s behaviour and pastoral system but also the pupil premium provision. After three years of positive trends and a very strong track record, Emilie was appointed joint Head of School in September 2019, then joint Headteacher in 2021. Emilie loves cooking, travelling and has a passion for working with young women and helping them to become empowered strong women.

Unless stated none of our governors have any relevant business interests nor do they have any relationships with members of staff. Father Hingley is also a governor of another school in Havering.
