Hi, I’m Elizabeth. I’m currently studying Triple Science, Photography, Geography, and French alongside the core subjects. Frances Bardsley was my first-choice school when I joined in Year 7, and I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today had I chosen differently.
The atmosphere here is incredibly supportive and empowering for young women. We’re lucky to have unique extracurricular opportunities like the school Farm, Railway, Art Gallery, and Platform as well as well-equipped departments across Science, Art, and more.

Every teacher is a subject specialist who brings passion and depth to their lessons, helping us see each subject not as a chore, but as something genuinely inspiring.

The process of choosing my GCSE options was clear and well-structured. In Year 9, the school held an Options Evening, which gave my parents the chance to visit and speak directly with subject teachers. It was a valuable opportunity to ask questions and gather detailed information about each course and the GCSE curriculum overall.
This helped me make informed choices based on my interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
Here at FBA, we are divided into two pathways at the end of Year 9. I am in Pathway 1, which requires students to study a language and offers the option to take triple science and statistics. In contrast, Pathway 2 allows students to choose whether or not to study a language, but does not include the option for triple science or statistics.

I found this system helpful, as it ensured my curriculum was tailored to my academic profile and future goals. Some time after the Options Evening, I submitted my final choices, feeling confident about the subjects I had selected and the journey ahead.
In conclusion, my experience at Frances Bardsley Academy has been both empowering and enriching. From the supportive environment to the wide range of opportunities available, I have felt encouraged to grow both academically and personally. The structured GCSE selection process allowed me to make confident, informed decisions that reflect my strengths and ambitions. I am proud of the path I have chosen and excited to continue building on it, knowing that I am supported by passionate teachers and a school community that truly believes in helping every student thrive.
