Diya

My name is Diya and I have the privilege of being the current Head Girl here at the Frances Bardsley Academy. Upon embarking on my sixth form journey, I decided to pursue advanced levels in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics- subjects which continue to challenge and inspire me.
Being a member of The Frances Bardsley Academy community has been one of the most transformative and empowering experiences of my life. The remarkably unique environment allows us to flourish. Surrounded by motivated, ambitious young women who support one another, our community grows to become more cohesive and dynamic every year as we welcome new peers . Our school fosters an environment where we’re all encouraged to lead, articulate ourselves, and challenge false stereotypes. This has shaped my character profoundly and is ingrained into my identity immensely.
What makes Frances Bardsley truly stand out is the heart behind everything we do. Here, we grow, connect, and thrive together. This school has given me more than just an education—it has given me strength, confidence, and a sense of belonging. I am proud to say that, with the school’s guidance and encouragement, we are all becoming strong, independent women ready to embrace the future with courage.
The support we receive from our teachers and senior staff, particularly in regards to university applications, is truly incomparable. They commit to go above and beyond guaranteeing that each of us is more than prepared, whether that’s by refining our personal statements with subject specialist teachers, spreading awareness of any opportunities which are beneficial or staff having their door always open to help us navigate our next steps. The school’s unwavering commitment assured us that we really can achieve our dreams and reach for the stars.
One of the most prominent hardships you’ll be faced with is the jump from GCSEs to A-levels, and whilst it may seem primarily daunting, the teachers here make sure you’re supported and equipped with the rapport to take on the challenge. The enthusiasm that our specialist teachers bring to every lesson ignites fascination and readiness to learn in all of us. I was apprehensive to say the least at the start of my sixth form journey but with the guidance provided, I quickly adapted and grew to love the new sense of independence and maturity. With independence, our year group became closer together as we all extended support and helped each other. This sense of sisterhood is unparalleled and is something I will be eternally grateful for.
At Frances Bardsley, we focus on building our KRACERS qualities: being knowledgeable, resilient, articulate, creative, empathetic, reflective, and studious. These qualities helped us succeed throughout our academic journeys but will continue to shape us as we move forward in life.
As my time at FBA draws to a close, I am filled with gratitude. Choosing this school has been the best decision I have ever made. I will always treasure the friendships I’ve built for life, the lessons I’ve learned, and the memories I hold close. Looking back, I don’t dwell on exams or challenges, but instead on the growth of my knowledge, the priceless experiences, and the unbreakable bonds I’ve formed. Frances Bardsley has not only educated me; it has given me an experience I will carry with me for a lifetime.
